2023 Officer of the Year Nominations

Rodney Allensworth

Nomination #1: I believe Officer Rodney Allensworth is deserving of the Officer of the Year award.  His continued hard work reflects positively upon the department and us all.  He has earned a number of accolades to include commendations as well as the NCIC Hit of the Year award for 2023.  Along with getting to accept his NCIC award from the FBI in person, he was featured in the NCIC newsletter which proudly passed along by WSP ACCESS to all departments in the state.  Officer Allensworth has always been someone I can count on for anything I've asked, and I've always appreciated his willingness to share his opinions in an effort to improve our work and our department. I don't hesitate to give him my full recommendation!

Nomination #2: I would like to nominate Rodney Allensworth for Officer of the Year for 2023.  Rodney is hard-working and cares a lot about his job.   Rodney actively seeks out criminal activity.  For example, in May 2023 he engineered a successful and safe arrest of some juveniles who were wanted for a murder investigation in Lewis County.  Rodney is also quick to assist other officers or other agencies when he perceives they need help. 

Brandon Anderson

I would like to nominate Officer Anderson.    Brandon genuinely cares about his co-workers, people he contacts on the street.  Brandon strives to leave everyone he meets in a better place than when he met them.   He works tirelessly on DT, peer support/wellness and goes out of his way to support the agency and city any way possible.  He has a vast knowledge of things and helps all his co-workers when he is able. 

Jerry Schliesman

I would like to nominate Detective Jerry Schliesman for Officer of the Year. Jerry works hard to get through a large case load (even though he is never at the office). He stepped up to take on the firearms instructor position and is a great resource for additional training.  

2023 Employee of the Year

Dan Medina

Nomination #1: I would like to nominate Dan Medina as the civilian employee.  Dan works tirelessly helping the entire department, patrol, animal control, investigations and ADMIN with reports, supplies, records requests, fingerprinting etc.   Dan is always trying new things and ideas in attempt to streamline the report process.     He understands his job and works in collaboration with the department and the city to make things happen.  

Nomination #2:       As a new Officer to the department, Dan was instrumental in teaching me many of the systems we use on patrol. Dan is an absolute wealth of information and takes the necessary time to answer in depth questions even though he has such a substantial workload. I make it a point to try and ask Dan a question every time I see him because he has consistently been a “one-stop-shop” for all questions I have had.

Additionally, Dan is very innovative. Several times I have had questions for Dan which resulted in a conversation. Dan asks me for input and ideas that I might have to streamline things. Dan is very thorough when reviewing reports and catches a lot of mistakes that officers need. Dan is a pleasure to work with and he is an incredible asset to this department and a great person.
